### My Journey to Creating House of Kibby
**About three years ago, my life took an unexpected turn.** I was diagnosed with heart failure, and my ejection fraction — a measurement of how well my heart was pumping — had dropped to a dangerously low **20%**. I was immediately hospitalized and faced with the terrifying possibility of needing a heart transplant. It was one of the most challenging and uncertain times of my life. But by the grace of God, I was blessed with an incredible team of doctors who did everything they could to stabilize my condition. After several treatments and a long road to recovery, I survived — **without a transplant.** For that, I am forever grateful.
However, surviving came with its own set of challenges. In order to stay healthy, I was placed on several medications that I would need to take for the rest of my life. One of the major side effects I experienced was **extremely dry skin**. It was something I never anticipated, but it quickly became a daily struggle. No matter what products I used from the store, my skin never felt moisturized — it often felt even more parched.
That’s when I began researching what was really in the products I was using. What I discovered shocked me. **Most of the soaps sold in stores aren’t even real soap** — they’re actually detergents. These detergents are harsh and extremely drying to the skin. **True soap**, on the other hand, is made from **natural fats and lye**, and it’s designed to cleanse without stripping the skin of its natural moisture. I realized that if I wanted to take better care of my skin, I would need to make a change.
The thought of making my own soap crossed my mind, but I was terrified. **The process of working with lye** — a substance that gets extremely hot when mixed with liquids — really intimidated me. I kept putting it off, convincing myself that it was too dangerous or too difficult. But deep down, I knew that creating my own natural soap could be the solution to my dry skin problem.
So I began watching countless soap-making videos on YouTube, trying to build up the courage to give it a shot. One creator in particular, **Ellen Ruth**, became my biggest inspiration. Her calm and encouraging demeanor helped ease my fears, and her videos gave me the knowledge and confidence I needed. **Thank you, Ellen Ruth,** for helping me find the strength to push through my life’s challenges and try something new.
Finally, **I took the leap.** I made my very first batch of soap. I was nervous the entire time, but the moment I unmolded that first bar and held it in my hands, I knew I had discovered something special. Not only did my skin feel better than it had in a long time, but I also felt an overwhelming sense of accomplishment.
What started as a mission to find relief for my dry skin quickly turned into a deep **passion for crafting beautiful, nourishing body care products.** Every product I create is made with love, intention, and the desire to help others care for their skin — especially those who struggle with dryness like I did.
💗 **That’s how House of Kibby was born.** Out of a season of hardship, I found my passion and my purpose. Today, I’m proud to offer high-quality, **luxurious body care products** designed to **nourish, pamper, and love your skin** — just like I would want for myself.
✨ **Thank you for being a part of my journey.** I hope my products bring you as much joy as they bring me.
